In recent years my compositional research has increasingly integrated the electronic medium within instrumental writing. The reasons of this choice (or it would be better to say attitude) are mainly two: the interest in the extension of the timbral possibilities of acoustic instruments and the influence of electronic sound in our culture.

The use of electronics in my chamber and symphonic music as well as in my opera projects, allowed me to interact more and more with instrumentalists and gradually led me to “play” the electronics. This is something that fascinates me particularly.

The project with Blow Up Percussion starts from this idea on the role of electronic music and its performer. Together we decided to propose a composition that sees not only the instrumental ensemble on stage but also the composer for the execution of the electronic part. In such a way the show breaks the habits of the usual performance in the perspective of creating a closer contact with the audience.

The structure of the work is divided into different scenes based on fragmentation, thoughts on technology, and connection with the unconscious.

It is of fundamental importance to underline how the project arises from a direct contact with the Blow Up percussionists and a shared vision of a certain idea of performance.
The work has been composed in close relationship with the performers, focusing on the creation of a sound universe that draws upon the colours of the world of percussion.

In addition the outstanding experience of Tempo Reale will guarantee an extremely high quality sound projection and will enhance the integration of instrumental and electronic writing.

Negli ultimi anni la mia ricerca compositiva ha integrato in maniera sempre più importante il mezzo elettronico all’interno della scrittura strumentale. Le ragioni di questa scelta (o sarebbe meglio dire attitudine) sono principalmente due: l’interesse per l’estensione delle possibilità timbriche degli strumenti acustici e l’influenza del suono elettronico nella nostra cultura. L’utilizzo dell’elettronica nei miei progetti di musica da camera, sinfonica e operistica mi ha permesso di interagire sempre di più con gli strumentisti e mi ha portato gradualmente a “suonare“ l’elettronica; tema che mi appassiona particolarmente.

Il progetto con Blow Up Percussion parte proprio da questa riflessione sul ruolo dell’elettronica e del suo esecutore. Abbiamo pensato di proporre una composizione che veda in scena non solo l’ensemble strumentale ma anche il compositore per l’esecuzione della parte elettronica e di puntare su uno spettacolo che rompa le consuetudini della performance usuale nell’ottica di creare un contatto più stretto con il pubblico.

La struttura del lavoro si articola in diverse scene basate su frammentarietà, riflessione sulla tecnologia e rapporto con l’inconscio.

Di fondamentale importanza sottolineare come il progetto nasca dal contatto diretto con i percussionisti del Blow Up e da una visione condivisa di una certa idea di performance.
Il lavoro è stato composto in stretta relazione con gli esecutori puntando sulla creazione di un universo sonoro che attinga fino in fondo ai colori del mondo delle percussioni.

Infine Tempo Reale cura la regìa del suono per mettere in risalto l’integrazione della scrittura strumentale ed elettronica.
